The Client

The Client

The client was the Government of Africa, and the client site was the individual houses in Senegal. The government has provided several subsidies to its people to setup roof top solar panels, to decrease the load on power generation.

The Objective

Residents were using the power generated from grids and not the solar energy generated through roof top panels. This was resulting in wastage of resources in setting up roof top solar panels, no reduction in power generation from grids, and high energy charges for consumers.

The Objective

The Solution

Solution
  • Industrial IoT rescued the situation. SamaraTech provided bi-directional smart energy meters to measure both solar power and power grid energy and monitor the solar power battery.
  • The IoT technology enabled battery monitoring system resulted in automatic switching of power input. On full charge the source energy automatically switches to solar power.
  • Consumers could set up threshold value for the battery. On reaching threshold, the energy source automatically switches to grid power.

The Outcome

Outcome
  • IoT technology enabled maximum use of renewable sources of energy
  • Reduction in load of power grids
  • Reduced energy bills for consumers.
